Do you think we'll be reimbursed for damages?

Thanks to the fact that several neighbors had their surveillance cameras up and running...

Suspected vandal arrested in rash of Peoria tire slashings
Police arrested a suspected vandal after tires were slashed on nearly 40 vehicles overnight Friday.

Ian E. Reynolds, 21, of 1202 E. Norwood Blvd. was arrested at 5:20 p.m. Sunday at 2114 W. Farmington Rd.  and booked on 39 charges of criminal damage to property. Source

So, we are to believe that one (1) person, walked up and down the street (14 City blocks), on the coldest night of the year and did this much damage all by himself, with one (1) knife? From what I heard, he looked like he was taking care of business when he was doing what he was doing. So, what's this tire slashing episode really about?

Ah heck no. He'll rat out his buddies. Especially when they tell him he may have to pay. A rat is a rat.

I would organize the neighbors that he vandalized, contact the States Attorneys office, and tell him you want to collect damages. He can mow lawns and shovel driveways to pay you all back.

humm getting blood from turnips....not likely.

off the topic but this caught my eye.
http://www.pjstar.com/free/x2105841925/Student-struck-by-car-at-Knoxville-and-Nebraska

A couple of thoughts come to mind. Since the crossing location was "south of Nebraska" one can safely assume the accident did not occur in the cross walk or while utilizing the traffic light sytem for pedestrians.
while not wishing an accident on anyone, perhaps if the city police would stand by tickets issued to youth, proper pedeistrian ediquette would be utilized. Kids have been taught they can simply walk out in front of cars and they will stop and wait. Not always the case and with the higher speed on Knoxville, stopping distance can become an issue if a pedestrian makes a bad judgement call. Additionally drivers go well above the speed limit on this street.

Emerge - I readily admit that you are way cooler than I am, always current with the lingo, trends, etc but . . .

What does this statement mean??

"From what I heard, he looked like he was taking care of business when he was doing what he was doing."

So I may be way off here and I refused to waste time looking up his Facebook page but do you believe this is at all a hate crime??

Emerge Peoria said...

No, I don't think it's a hate crime at all.

And that statement has nothing to do with being cool. The person I talked to said that phrase "taking care of business." I repeated back, "so he was on a mission," the person responded "exactly."

He lives with his parents, it looks like, if you do a search on that address.

Emerge Peoria said...

By the way, I looked at the Facebook page. It's average.

This person looks like he comes from a loving family that provided for him. He appears to have a good relationship with his Dad, who is more than likely well known in the community. He's a clown, a thug and wannabe "gansta."

He has disappointed a lot of people. One of them being a young lady who used to give him a ride to work on the regular in her parents car. Her parents lived in the path of the slashing. She told him how he has impacted her little sister's Christmas with his vandalism. The hurt in her Facebook post was really sad. Punk.

Completely off topic---HR report for D150 shows Randy Simmons moving up his retirement to Dec. 21. Does anyone know why? Is it lack of support, or pressure put on him? He was one of the really good things happening in PPS.
Again, I apologize for being off topic.

Randy is retiring early because he has had enough! He has the days available to go at semester. HUGE loss for students!!

Anonymous said...

It is very unusal for a principal to leave the kids they love in the middle of the school year. Something is not right here.

2 Anon said...

This should be the final red flag for the BOE. Randy Simmons is well-known for his love of D150, and his love for his students.

When is the board going to wake up? Are they un-willing to see the whole picture just because they hired her?

Where is Aaron Schock when we need him, ala Kay Royster debacle. At least Royster only brought 3 outsiders to ruin D150. Lathan has a whole her of them!

On a semi-related note, rumor has it Mary Davis won her lawsuit against D150. Apparently there was no absolute proof that she stole money so she will get back pay, expenses paid for,etc...

This young man is one of my former students. His home life isn't the best, but that in no way excuses what he did. He goes to church on Sunday evenings and sits with my family and I. It makes my heart very sad that he made such a lousy choice while intoxicated. No matter how much others try to help him out, he keeps getting pushed down at home. I will continue to pray for him.

Anonymous said...

The reason Davis won is because of protocal errors. The tax payers of Peoria can blame KEN HINTON and the FOOLS he hired for this lawsuit. We are still paying for his mistakes.

And...here we go...lets welcome back the McArdle klan lynch mob who will hijack every thread...again...
Ah...alas...another forgotten 150 reject who is angry.

And...no here we go...I interrupted this threat...for the first time...ever...and I am not part of the McArdle klan lynch mob. Thanks for bringing it up...though.

Since the topic seems to be getting skewed anyway, I agree with the poster about Simmons leaving in the middle of the year. Something is not right. Someone has dirt on him and I'll bet it's going to come out soon. I can only hope so. I'll never forget how eloquently he handled leaving PHS and how welcoming he was to students that came into his building at the closing of WHS. As far as I'm concerned (and other parents I know) it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Good riddance.

All the parents and students I know loved Mr. Simmons at Peoria High. So there!!!!!!!

About Randy Simmons--don't know if it's true or what it has to do with his leaving mid-year but I heard that a student bit him and appropriate disciplinary action was not taken. Also, Carolyn Nunn, I hear, will be filling in at Von Steuben and we all know that story, right? The reward and punishment system currently in effect in District 150 is amazing.

Anonymous said...

Nunn is retired!

2 Anon said...

Nunn is not retired. She supposedly retired, then came back as the speech coordinator. That would be a terrible thing to do to VonSteuben, because she does not have the skills to be a principal.

So how do we fix this mess? How do we encourage open minded people to run for BOE? Many long time employees are leaving the District. Latham is a tyrant and does not listen. What employees are next on her hit list?

Anonymous said...

Does any one have an answer why the BOE is deliberately letting Lathan ruin District 150? Do they hate the district that much and want it ruined? Don't they realize the district is the laughing stock of all the other school districts? Lathan has for several years shown that she is enept and can't be a superintendant and continues making mistakes after mistakes including getting rid of good teachers, principals and other staff. You can't open your mouth and tell her anything or you are on her chopping list. This latest thing about the IHSA is an prime example. Who will she blame for her getting caught and get rid of?

Anonymous said...

I heard that she yelled at the Assistant Principals for an hour on Monday at their mandatory meeting.

Anonymous said...

The board can not get it through their heads they are the superintendent's boss. This has been going on since Hinton arrived. They just don't get it. Maybe they should take lessons from other boards that understand they are the boss and they shouldn't be allowing the superintendent to get by with being a bully.

On another note, I'm surprised Emerge has not investigated why Simmons is leaving mid-year.

Anonymous said...

Why would Simmons leave? He probably has enough years and has HAD enough of being yelled at and blamed for something the Tyrant said he was responsible for, of course only in her mind...
Don't worry there are plenty of North Carolina teachers and principals to take his and ALL the others' places...
Sadly I no longer recognize the District I once taught in for many years. :(

Anonymous said...

I get it. Under normal circumstances, Randy would never leave kids mid-year. But educators, regardless of position, are human too and enough is enough. Why can't the board find an articulate, professional, and knowledgeable superintendent? Oh ya, people don't want to work for a foolish board!

2 Anon said...

Lathan should have done the right thing by Simmons' wife and apologized after it came out that Lathan belittled her.

Anonymous said...

His wife?

Why is this the 1st time the spitting has been mentioned? That is considered assault as well and Nunn's actions may be construed as self defense.

Anonymous said...

UM if every teacher in the district smacked a student across the face when got spit on then there would be a lot less teachers/ administrators.

Since I hijacked this a few days ago, read this PJStar article:

http://www.pjstar.com/news/x459327655/Hearing-officer-Ex-principal-Mary-Davis-was-improperly-fired

The whole school board needs to be replaced, plain & simply, along with administrators. This was not a shocking ruling, the board just didn't know that.
